Foxwoods Turned 30, Announces More Renovations and Additions

After last month’s 30th Anniversary celebration at Foxwoods Resort Casino, new plans for renovations and innovations have been released by the operators of Northeast America’s largest resort casino.

At one time, Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut, was known as the world’s largest casino by gambling floor space, only losing that designation when Venetian Macau opened in 2007 with well over half a million square feet of gaming space on the Cotai Strip near mainland China.

Today, Foxwoods finds other ways to distinguish itself from the lottery casinos nearby and its biggest competitor, the Mohegan Sun, just about 11 miles away and closer to an urban player pool.

VIP Lounge – Sushi By Bou – Wingstop

Upgrades and novelties at Foxwoods for 2022 include the opening of a new one-of-a-kind sushi suite and sit-down restaurant, Sushi By Bou as well as the re-opening of the popular Wingstop that took a break while traffic was down, and a new VIP lounge situated in the place of the former Veranda Café.

The next mention in a press release from the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe is of a retail sports card and collectors room dubbed CardVault. And while no visitor is ever likely to see all 2,200 Foxwoods employees at any given time, designers have opted for a massive expansion of the employee-only food court to relieve crowding during shift changes and to give team members a little more quality space of their own.

Sushi By Bou will be located on the concourse in a one-of-a-kind space designed to bring the sushi experience to life in a new way. Rather than segregating patrons by menus or special seating, Sushi By will be available to everyone with a special suite in Great Cedar Hotel, a world away offering VIP treatment as well.

All customers will be able to experience true Omakase dining focused on traditional sushi craft and techniques with only the highest quality fish available anywhere. In addition to the requisite selection of premium sake and Japanese beer, handcrafted cocktails will add to the experience.

Wingstop reopened in the Great Cedar food court on Tuesday satisfying visitors’ desires for the penultimate chicken wing.

The as-yet-unnamed VIP Players Lounge will open later this summer in the place of Veranda Cafe overlooking the broad woods of eastern Connecticut. The space will be completely reimagined with 225 seats for a new buffet line and 15 bar seats. It will become the “go to” spot for loyal visitors and rated players just finding their way around the casino resort.

CardVault Sports Collectibles

Sports enthusiasts will be sure to check out the new CardVault – a novel concept retail experience where aficionados can buy, sell, trade, consign, and grade sports cards and collectibles. Souvenirs, premium collectibles, and unique artwork will be available to patrons as well as the opportunity to buy, sell, and trade cards from various leagues like the NFL, NHL, and MLB.

A press release from the company early this week stated: “As we continue to trailblaze and redefine what it means to be a resort casino, our priority is continuing to provide innovative and high-quality experiences for everyone that walks through our halls – not just our guests, but our team members, as well. These new openings signify another wave of enhancements to show our appreciation for all that have supported us over the past thirty years. We are just getting started.”

Last month, Foxwoods held a 30th Anniversary celebration. To mark the milestone they announced a lineup of new developments including the addition of Great Wolf Lodge at Mashantucket, a High Stakes Bingo Hall, and a new Rainmaker Expo Center.
