Rethinking the area
The Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City has announced a $5m remodeling of its sports betting area. The casino revealed the move on Monday, in which “The Gallery Bar, Book & Games” will merge sports betting, traditional gambling, and a bar. The 12,000 square-foot location will be the area from which the sportsbook currently operates.
conducting a $25m renovation of its gaming areas
Ocean Casino Resort has been conducting a $25m renovation of its gaming areas. The sportsbook renovation is the final phase of the work and is set to open during the summer. Other changes resulting from the project are a redesigned casino floor and the opening of three new venues for high-limit gambling.
Catering to a variety of needs
According to the press release, The Gallery will “set the stage for social gaming, big game nights, and an unforgettable afterhours experience.” Patrons will be able to enjoy service at a 100-foot elevated lounge and bar that will have 59 seats and a dozen slot machines.
There will be roulette and blackjack tables around the bar’s perimeter, with LED screens spanning across 140 feet of the venue. USBookmaking, Elys Game Technology subsidiary, will provide the esports betting services at six windows. Elys recently got a six-month license to operate the sportsbook at the property.
providing an unbeatable atmosphere right in the heart of the casino floor”
Ocean Casino Resort general manager Bill Callahan is looking forward to the completion of the work, saying that the new venue will “enhance the guest experience by providing an unbeatable atmosphere right in the heart of the casino floor.”
Going from strength to strength
The property had also been conducting wider renovations outside of the gaming floor. These renovations, announced last October, cost about $75m and include the addition of over 460 guest rooms and suites.
Ocean Casino Resort had its best financial year in 2021 since it opened in 2012, as casinos in Atlantic City bounced back from pandemic-related struggles. Luxor Capital Group, the casino’s parent company, sold 50% of its stake in October to the Ilitch organization. Both groups will equally share the responsibility of making major decisions for the property.
