Boyd Gaming Corp. officially began the construction of its newest local casino, Cadence Crossing, on Thursday, April 3, 2025, marking the start of an exciting new phase for the Henderson area in Nevada. Situated near the existing Jokers Wild Casino on Boulder Highway, the groundbreaking ceremony was a memorable occasion, attended by executives from Boyd Gaming, Henderson city council members, and leaders from the Cadence community. This new project is poised to replace the aging Jokers Wild Casino, a landmark in the area for over three decades.
A new chapter for Henderson’s growing Cadence community:
The ceremony was held amidst construction equipment, with dignitaries from both Boyd Gaming and the city taking part in the traditional symbolic shoveling of dirt to celebrate the start of the project. The new casino, expected to open in mid-2026, will bring an array of exciting features to the region, including 450 slot machines and a selection of yet-to-be-revealed food and beverage options.
According to Las Vegas Review-Journal, Steve Schutte, Boyd Gaming’s Executive Vice President of Operations, spoke at the event, addressing the gathered crowd of approximately 60 attendees. He confirmed that while construction on Cadence Crossing moves forward, the current Jokers Wild Casino will remain operational until the new facility is ready to open. Once the transition is made, Jokers Wild will be demolished, and the space will be repurposed for additional parking to accommodate the larger facility.
Cadence Crossing will be developed in phases, allowing the project to expand in step with the growth of the surrounding Cadence master-planned community. The Cadence development, which is currently the fastest-growing community of its kind in the United States, continues to see rapid expansion. As the community grows, so too will the casino, with long-term plans already in place to increase its offerings.
Beyond the initial 450 slot machines and dining outlets, there are plans for future expansions, including a hotel, more diverse gaming options, and additional amenities designed to enhance the experience for both locals and visitors.
