Gun Lake Casino’s New Hotel Opens with Grand Celebrations

Gun Lake Casino Resort is gearing up to celebrate the grand opening of its new hotel in Wayland, Michigan, this Friday with a series of events that promise to dazzle and entertain. The centerpiece of the celebration is the unveiling of a 16-story luxury hotel tower, which has been eagerly anticipated since the commencement of its construction in 2022.

Spanning 252 rooms, the hotel is designed to provide unparalleled luxury and comfort. It also introduces a range of new amenities, including the exclusive MnoYé Spa, the revamped Sandhill Café, a chic lobby bar, and an expanded casino floor boasting the latest slot machines.

Sal Semola, CEO of Gun Lake Casino, quoted by WWMT News Channel 3, expressed his enthusiasm about the new facility, “This hotel is a game changer for us. It not only enhances our capacity to host guests but significantly elevates the entire gaming and entertainment experience. I anticipate our hotel being at full capacity, especially on weekends.”

The grand opening day will be filled with extraordinary activities starting in the early evening. At 7:15 p.m., guests can look forward to a Spectacular Drone Show, where a fleet of drones will light up the night sky with intricate visuals synchronized to music. This will be followed by an Interactive Entertainment session at 7:30 p.m., featuring magicians, stilt walkers, and speed caricature artists roaming the casino floor to engage with guests.

The celebration continues into the night with Live Entertainment at 10 p.m. at the 131 Sportsbar & Lounge. The band Brena will perform a vibrant tribute to the iconic women of rock history, ensuring the evening ends on a high note.

More Amenities Coming Up

Looking ahead, May will mark the completion of the resort’s expansion with the debut of the Wawyé Oasis. This 32,000-square-foot indoor atrium will offer a tropical 80-degree environment complete with multiple swimming pools, a swim-up bar, and year-round live entertainment.

The $300 million expansion includes not only the hotel but also the luxurious Wawye Oasis, a vast atrium featuring two pools, private cabanas, lush tropical flora, and live palm trees capable of hosting concerts and events. This new addition sets the stage for Gun Lake Casino to compete on equal footing with other major casinos in Michigan that offer on-site lodging.

In addition to these facilities, the top floor houses the two-story Ogema Penthouse. Priced starting at $2,000 a night, it includes a full bar, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an in-suite elevator, and more, representing the epitome of luxury. The Penthouse and other parts of the hotel are still under completion and are expected to fully open later this month.

Gun Lake Casino, owned by the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi, continues to offer a comprehensive gambling and entertainment experience. It features six restaurants, over 2,300 slot machines, over 50 table games, a live poker room, a modern sportsbook, and keno. The expansion project kicked off in 2022, and the addition of the new hotel and amenities aims to provide an unmatched luxury experience to its guests, further cementing its status as a premier destination in the Midwest.
